News about Paris 20 Gigapixels project

Monday, December 15th, 2008

Kolor and photographer Arnaud Frich intend to create one of the biggest panoramic image of the world: Paris 20 Gigapixels. This project was announced a few months ago.

Technically, everything is ready to shoot the 2000 images needed to create such a panorama. We are only waiting for the weather. As the event needs to meet all partners’ agendas, the project can only be undertaken during a week-end. All week-ends of November and December were cloudy or rainy in Paris, thus the project is posponned to the first sunny week-end after Christmas holidays.

As a reminder, Paris 20 Gigapixels will be shot from one of the towers of St Sulpice church, where the viewpoint covers nearly all interesting monuments of Paris.

A profesional filming team from Alter Persona Films agency will cover the event. They already sent us some images of the spotting they did in November :

Photos of the Panobook final draft

Monday, November 10th, 2008

Logo Panobook 2009We have just received from the printer the final draft of the Panobook. The book will be printed in the coming days and will be available in the beginning of December.

As a reminder, the Panobook is a collaborative book proposed by Kolor to all users of Autopano Pro software and that enable them to publish their most beautiful panoramic images into a quality book.

We first expected the book to be around 165 to 180 pages, but it will finally include 248 pages! We prefered to add some pages to give a larger space to some panoramas. Final stats are 221 contributors and 365 images.

A panorama of Peter Gutsche (one of the contributors) has been chosen as the cover image.

Here are some photos of the draft and the book cover.

Friday, September 5th, 2008

Panorama Book Kolor 2008More than 240 Autopano Pro users sent us 1600 images for the Panorama Book project: a great success!

As previously announced, each contributor will have at least one of his panoramas published in the book. We selected 360 images indeed.

The next steps :
- In september, our graphic designer will receive all the selected images and create the book layout
- In October, 4000 copies of the book will be printed
- In November, we will receive the books and will add them to our online store. All contributors will be able to buy the book at cost price.

Special thanks to all the contributors; this will be a great book with awesome panoramas!

10 days left to send your photos for the Panorama Book!

Friday, August 22nd, 2008

Panorama Book Kolor 2008More than 300 Autopano Pro users already sent us a total of 870 images for the Panorama Book that will be published in November. It is a great success. If you did not send panoramas yet or if you would like to add some, you only have 10 days left to do so!

The image upload interface is on : http://www.autopano.net/panobook

This community project aims to promote the panoramic format and to enable all Autopano Pro users to publish their greatest panoramas in a beautiful quality book. Each contributor will have at least one of his/her photos published. The book will be available in november and each contributor will be able to acquire up to 5 copies at cost price.

Technical aspects:
- Check carrefully the photo description (name, place, comment)
- Send photos that are ready to be printed: cropped and with a good quality
- Do not add an outline to your photos, to let our graphic designer create an homogenous graphic charter in the whole book
- The photographer’s name will appear besides the photo ; you should therefore not include it in the photo itself

A contractual aspect: this project has a community spirit and Kolor only has the right to use your images in order to publish them in the book and for promotional purposes directly linked to this book. This right is not excusive; you can therefore use your images in any other project of course.

Thanks to all contributors!
The Kolor team
