Number of iamges per lens focal length

Is there a chart somewhere to tell me how many images to take for a specific lens focal length?

Form the above database regarding my lens, how do I interpret this in practical terms, "Min. shots (1.5x): N, 10 images every 36° at -45° pitch, 10 images every 36° at 0° pitch, 10 images every 36° at +45° pitch, Z"
Thanks!

Interpret as follows:

For 360x180 coverage using a cropped sensor DSLR with 1.5x crop factor (ie. Canon) shoot 3 rows of 10 images - ie 10-around evenly spaced with 36 degree rotation between images in each of the three rows.

Top row - shoot at an upward tilit (pitch) of -45 dgrees.
Middle row - shoot at zero degrees pitch.
Bottom row - shoot at -45 degrees tidownward tilit (pitch).

Plus Z(enith) shot at say +90 degress; and N(adir) shot at -90 degress, this usually shot with camera removed from the pano head.

OK? This all rather assumes that you have a proper pano head!

Re: Number of iamges per lens focal length

If you are patient enough, this (rather intricated) calculator will answer a very large number of questions:

  http://www.frankvanderpol.nl/fov_pan_calc.htm

Its main weak point: it don't take into account the fact that the closest you are from zenith or nadir the less image amount you need in the corresponding row.

mad First screen capture show a possible arrangement for 360° x 180° using a 28mm equiv. lens (3 for zenith and nadir - 12 for the horizon - 6 between - 30 total, worked fine!)

yikes Second screen capture shows a possible (but untested yet) arrangement I devised using APP Move tool: source images don't match because they were moved but it shows that a 25 images total should work... Using APP Move tool needs some practice but is a very powerful tool to investigate new arrangements.

roll Another difficult problem is found when one want to use planar projection: more source images are needed above the center point than along the left and right panorama sides (because images distant from the center point are more stretched.) Corresponding computations look like a trigonometric nightmare but being warned helps to add some shoots "above the middle of the pano" because, who know, they could be useful...

Re: Number of iamges per lens focal length

Re: Number of iamges per lens focal length

Re: Number of iamges per lens focal length
