A question on workflow

smileI'm new to APP and have a question about a pano I am attempting.
I shot 3 rows of (3 bracketed images) with 14 in each row. (Total 126 shots)
Using APP in default mode it leaves blank spots where Images have been taken.
My procedure was to use Photomatix to tone map each of the 3 bracketed shots and then stitch the 42 resultant images in APP. Still get the blank spots. Trying sticthing 3 vertical images then stitching 14 resultant images in APP. Should I select planar projection for each of the 14 images or stitch then select planar.
Thanks to anyone who can help

Contrary to PanoTools, APP can only stitch rectilinear source images (or fisheye ones), so that your intermediate panos should be rectilinear ones (computing and entering manually the corresponding "fake focal length" could help APP for the second stitch.)

Usually, we don't do that but rather look for the "orphaned" source images (in your case some among the images produced using Photomatix), move them to their approximate location using the Move Tools and use the CP editor Add CP and Optimize tools or the Local Geometry Analysis and Local Optimize tools [...]

As the above tools need some practice, the best advice could be to go to the Edit - Settings menu and change some of the Detection tag options like Quality of detection and Optimization options.

Because Photomatix probably didn't copy EXIF infos into the images it produced, manually inserting the focal length off source images via the Group View Images Properties tool/window could help.

This is only a fast survey of APP tools designed for the "difficult panos". If you need more help, don't hesitate to include source images (as processed by Photomatix) and APP screen captures!

Re: A question on workflow

Thanks for the reply. I've got to go to the documentation and study it a bit more  to learrn some of the terminology and get my head around the procedures. The program seems good but the learning curve is steep, especially when ther doesnt seem to be any good documentation.

No doubt that APP documentation was not designed for for new users like you !

A few months ago AlexandreJ suggested that a tutorial aimed at users of other well known stitchers would be fine. An interesting idea but ... many versions of several good stitchers which never stop to evolve and are used by peoples having many different skill levels to stitch large mosaics or 360x180 and/or HDR and/or moving crowd and/or desert landscapes, etc...

I wonder whether a difficult panos tutorial series would not be more appropriate.
