== Concept ==

The concept behind this tool emerged from the following observation: many panoramas are made up from source images sharing one common characteristic: same shutter speed, same aperture, or same focal length.   It can then become interesting to group the source images sharing a common characteristic at the blending stage and process them as a sub group.

It is the purpose of this tool: to offer a simple method allowing us to process some images as groups, independently from the other source images.

A toolbar populated with several icons is available for you to adjust the layers to your preferences: 
* [[Image:group_addpicture.png]] '''Add images''': to add images to the selected layer. Autopano Pro will then integrate the added image in the panorama preview.
* [[Image:group_removepicture.png]] '''Delete images or layers''': select an image or a layer then click on this icon to delete it.  Autopano Pro will then delete them from the panorama preview. 
* [[Image:layer_new.png]] '''New layer''': used to create a new layer, you can then add or drag and drop images to that layer.
* [[Image:layer_reset.png]] '''Reset layer''': to reset all layer modifications.

== Layers List ==

This area of the window will allow you to manage the layers themselves as well as the images within the layers. 

* '''To create a new layer''': use the [[Image:layer_new.png]] ''New Layer'' button. A new empty layer will be created at the end of the already existing layer list.
* ''To add an image to a layer'': You can either drag and drop the image into the desired group, assuming the image is already listed in the image list, either use the [[Image:group_addpicture.png]] ''Add Images'' button to add new images to the layer.
* ''To delete an image or a layer'': Select the image(s) and/or layer(s) then use the ''Delete'' keyboard key or click on the [[Image:group_removepicture.png]] ''Delete images or layers'' button.
* ''To rename a layer'': double-click on the layer’s name to edit it.
* If you do not wish to delete an image but only to '''deselect''' it so Autopano Pro will not take it into account when building the panorama preview, all you need to do is uncheck the box located next to its name. '''Warning''': if you do not wish the image to appear in the final rendering, unselecting it will not be sufficient; it has to be deleted from the list.




=== Columns ===

You can visualize all the important information related to each image in the Image Name, Shutter Speed, Aperture and Focal Length columns. Each individual column can be sorted to quickly organize the list in a logical way.

If you click on the [[Image:layer_regroup_aperture.png]] '''Group by aperture'''  button in the example illustrated on the right, we are actually dividing the source images list into 3 layers: ''F4.0'', ''F3.2'' et ''F3.5''.  

If you launch a rendering with these layers, you will end up with 3 panoramas, one per aperture used.
