Autopano Pro enables you to easily reproduce paintings and artworks, with a very high resolution and a perfect stitching. There are two ways you can shoot the photos:
Shooting from a single viewpoint
Step 1: Shooting
You can shoot your photos from a single viewpoint, a few meters far from the painting :
In this example, we shot 6 lines of 3 to 4 photos. That makes 20 photos, which is enough to get a good resolution for this small painting. Of course, you can shoot more photos if you want to get an even higher resolution and better details.
Step 2: Choose planar projection
Launch the detection in Autopano Pro. Then, in the Editor window of Autopano Pro, choose the Planar projection (learn more about Projecting Modes).
Step 3: Crop the image
Use the crop tool to keep the image zone you want. Do not forget to apply by clicking the Apply button or pressing the Enter key of your keyboard.
Step 4: Render the image
Final step! Just click on the Render icon and launch the rendering process. If you want, you can change the output size and choose the output file format (JPG, PNG, TIFF, layered PSD, HDR).
Parallel shooting
Step 1: Shooting
In this method, shoot your photos parallel to the painting or artwork. You can do this manually, or using a CameraFusion hardware.
This method is also useful when using scanned images.
Step 2: Set focal distance to 1000mm
Theoretically, to get Autopano Pro detect the panorama, the nodal point should not differ from a photo to another. In this particular case, as the camera's nodal point is different for each image, we have to change the focal distance to make Autopano Pro consider the painting as a small part of the sphere (learn more about Projecting Modes).
We therefore have to set the focal distance to 1000. To do so, open the Image properties window and set the focal to 1000mm:
Step 3: Crop the image
Launch the detection in Autopano Pro. In the Editor window, use the crop tool to keep the image zone you want. Do not forget to apply by clicking the Apply button or pressing the Enter key of your keyboard.
Step 4: Render the image
Final step! Just click on the Render icon and launch the rendering process. If you want, you can change the output size and choose the output file format (JPG, PNG, TIFF, layered PSD, HDR).
